Direct thermal or thermal transfer?
The printer supports both. Direct thermal works for short-life labels and tags. Most brand hang tags and apparel RFID labels need thermal transfer printing with a ribbon suited to the tag material, so text and barcodes stay readable through washing, handling and shipping.

For thermal transfer printing use 110 mm wax, 110 mm wax-resin or narrower ribbons (42–85 mm) for small labels, wound ink side out.
