This 55 mm × 300 m wax-resin ribbon is a thermal-transfer ribbon for barcode and label printers. The printhead melts the ink from the film onto the label, giving sharp, dark barcodes and text that last far longer than direct-thermal printing. It is wound ink side out on a standard core, the way most industrial printers load ribbon.
Key features
- 55 mm wide, 300 m long — one roll prints thousands of labels before you need to change it.
- Wax-resin ink — best for coated paper and film labels that need smudge and scratch resistance.
- Ink side out — fits the standard ribbon spindle of Zebra, SATO, TSC and Argox industrial printers.
- Tougher print — resists smudging and light scratching much better than plain wax.
- Sharp at speed — clean edges on 1D and 2D barcodes so they scan first time.
Which printers it fits
A 55 mm ribbon fits printers with a print width of at least 55 mm. From our range: 4-inch industrial printer (Zebra ZT231, ZT411, ZT510, ZT610, SATO CL4NX Plus, TSC MH341T, Argox iX4-350); 6-inch industrial printer (Zebra ZT421, SATO CL6NX Plus); 8-inch industrial printer (TSC TTP-384MT).
Wax or wax-resin?
Wax-resin sits between wax and full resin: it bonds better to coated paper and many film labels and resists smudging and scratching, while still printing fast. Use it for pharmaceutical and FMCG cartons, warehouse and asset labels, and anything that is handled often. For plain paper labels used quickly, a wax ribbon is cheaper.
Choosing the right width
The ribbon should be at least as wide as your label (so the whole label is printed) but not wider than the printer’s printhead. Using a ribbon close to your label width saves money — for example, 55 or 70 mm ribbons for narrow garment and product labels, 110 mm for 4-inch shipping labels.
