Why does an 80mm roll measure 78 mm? "80mm" is the printer size. Paper for 80mm printers is made about 78 mm wide so it turns freely inside the printer: this is the normal size every shop uses. The second number (78 mm) is how thick the roll is across (its diameter); a thicker roll holds more paper. 78 × 78 mm is our largest roll.
